Location Information – The Collegiate - Liverpool City Centre


The Collegiate, designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes, the architect of Liverpool’s world famous St George’s Hall, is a short walk away from the centre of Liverpool with its theatres, museums, galleries, shops, cafes, restaurants, Cathedrals, amazing live music scene and clubs to name a few. If you look through the apartment windows you will enjoy sweeping views of the city and on a clear day you see across the city to Wales.

Historical Facts

The Collegiate is one of the city’s most imposing buildings. It was designed by Harvey Lonsdale Elmes who was also the designer and architect of the most magnificent St George's Hall.

The Collegiate was founded in 1840 under the name Liverpool Collegiate Institution, as a day school for boys.

A former head of the school included Reverend George Butler, the husband of the early feminist, Josephine Butler.

Famous Collegiate students include Leonard Rossiter, Holly Johnson, Pete Best and Brian Labone.

The Liverpool Collegiate was closed in 1985 following a fire.

Today the building retains its imposing double height doors which lead onto a beautiful mosaic floor with sweeping staircases, its fireplace and the World War One memorial in the hall, with its list of all of the school patrons and headmasters

East Float is an historical building with a contemporary twist. It is an award winning Grade II Dockside warehouse located on the East Float Dock and used by Samuel L.Jackson and Robert Carlyle as a film location in the film 'The 51st State' in 2001. It has been awarded a 4 star rating and Family Friendly rating by Quality in Tourism. This luxury two bedroomed and two bathroom apartment has a high quality finish and is a stones throw from the River Mersey and just across from the world famous Liverpool waterfront, now deemed a world heritage site and home to the Capital of Culture. You can see the Liver Birds from each of the apartment windows.

East Float is situated near the historic town of Birkenhead with its two key historical focal points - Hamilton Square, one of the finest Georgian squares in the country and the world famous Birkenhead Park, which was the inspiration for New York’s Central Park. Being next to the River you will see ships from all over the world come in and out of the Docks, some so large as they pass through the raised Tower Road Bridge that you will never cease to wonder how they do it.

East Float Quay is a short walk away to the world famous Mersey Ferries and just across the River Mersey lies Liverpool with its theatres, museums, galleries, shops, cafes, restaurants, Cathedrals, amazing live music scene and clubs to name a few. You are a brief taxi ride away from Hamilton Square Rail Station and a short walk away you will find the Mersey Ferry, made famous by the song sung by Gerry and the Pacemakers. If you fancy a trip into Liverpool you can either drive through the Wallasey Tunnel or park your car at the Seacombe Ferry terminal and hop on the Mersey Ferry across to Liverpool. They even play the song as it docks at the Pier Head, which is right in front of the world famous Liver Birds. Outside the gates of the complex you will find a bus stop with services running to Chester and at the Mersey Ferry you will find a bus terminus and the Spaceport a great place for you to visit and learn more about our universe and the solar system.

Being by the River you will see various ships come in and out of the Docks and Mersey estuary. Some ships so large you never cease to wonder how they do it. You can walk down to Tower Road and be amazed as the tug boats bring the ships into the Dock as the Road Bridge is raised. You can also feed the swans, seagulls and geese that live in the Dock.

A walk along the promenade from Seacombe Ferry will take you along the waterfront to the quaint Magazines Lane area, Vale Park with its unique Bandstand and New Brighton. At New Brighton you will see its famous lighthouse and of course Perch Rock, where you will often find rallies of classic cars, music events, jet skiers and kite flyers to name a few. You can ride the funfair, go ten-pin bowling or simply feed the swans at the marine lake and enjoy the fantastic views across the Irish sea, watching the ships enter the Mersey estuary.

Bereys Buildings, is a beautiful Grade II listed building in the heart of Liverpool's business district. It is a short walk away from the Pier Head, Liver Buildings, the Mersey Ferry, Albert Dock, Met Quarter and Cavern Quarter. The apartment is ideally located to visit several of Liverpool’s great museums, St George's Hall, theatres, galleries and shopping districts and it is a short drive away to Speke Hall and Croxteth Country Park. You can take a stroll around one of Liverpool’s many designer shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, there is something to suit every taste. Liverpool continues to produce fantastic live music and is remains passionate about its football too. With three fantastic local teams, Liverpool, Everton and Tranmere Rovers to choose from.
